So, here we are.
As I mentioned in this post, I’ve sent out 43 targeted applications so far. I’m focusing specifically on agencies in my city—a process that drove me crazy because Gemini kept messing up locations, forcing me to hunt them down manually on Google Maps.
I’ve split my search into three tiers of preference:
Web Design Agencies: My top choice.
Marketing Agencies: They handle a lot of graphics, and who knows? Maybe they need a hungry Junior.
General IT Roles: This is where I go massive on LinkedIn, applying to everything. I'll move to Indeed soon.
My cover letters are blunt. I tell them I’m tough because I’ve been self-studying for years, but I’m open to anything for a first break: low-pay contracts, freelance collaborations (Italy is complicated, we know), or even internships paid in coffee machine tokens.
I don't need the money right now. I made this jump well-prepared with my savings. I’m playing the long game: I will make a lot of money later if everything goes according to my plan. Right now, I just need the foot in the door.
The first spark? The head of an agency contacted me expressing interest. I kept my reply short: "I’m available, let me know when and I’ll be there for a face-to-face interview." Now, I wait.
Some warned me that not giving specific days/hours makes recruiters take their time, but I don’t care. I want to broadcast total availability.
We’ll talk again next Tuesday, guys.
